Dinner Plain is a quiet alpine escape. The village has a small selection of retail outlets and food venues designed to cater to all your needs. During the peak snow season, you will find some additional services that do not operate during the off-peak months. Here's what you need to know.
Retail & Rental
Hoys Skis and Hotham Sports Dinner Plain, both located in the village centre on Horseshoe Circle, are open daily during the snow season (and at advertised times during the summer and Easter holidays). Both stores provide outdoor clothing, skis, snowboards, toboggans, cross-country skis and snowshoes, available for purchase. You can also rent a huge range of equipment, including toboggans, cross-country ski gear and more.
Down at the Cobungra Platter Ski Slope, you can rent toboggans from Cafe Play, located next to the car park at Scrubbers End.
Groceries & Supplies
DP Grocer—17 Big Muster Drive—is a small supermarket located at the start of Big Muster Drive in Dinner Plain. It is open during the snow season only, starting from the King's Birthday weekend in June until the end of September. It is open from 9am to 5pm daily (and from 8am during July).
DP Pantry—4 Big Muster Drive—provides a limited selection of local produce from Swifts Creek, King Valley, Milawa and Tongio. It is open 7 days a week 9am to 6pm.
Foodworks—147 Day Ave, Omeo—is a fully stocked supermarket that can deliver food, supplies and alcohol to Dinner Plain year-round for a flat rate of $10 per delivery. Please call 03 5159 1210 or email [email protected] for more information.
Hotham Central Supermarket—27 Great Alpine Rd, Hotham Heights—opens over winter in the White Crystal building.*
The General Store—1 Great Alpine Rd, Hotham Heights—is a small convenience store open year-round. (Phone 03 5759 3523).*
*Please note: vehicle entry fees apply to enter the Mount Hotham resort area during the ski season.
Bottle Shops
In Dinner Plain, Hotel High Plains—25 Big Muster Dr—and, Dinner Plain Hotel—31 Horseshoe Cir—can help with your takeaway alcohol needs. Foodworks in Omeo has a bottle shop and can deliver to Dinner Plain for a flat rate of $10 per delivery.
Homewares & Souvenirs
Alpinwood Collections—6 Big Muster Dr—offers alpine inspired homewares, gifts, apparel, footwear, jewellery and accessories.
Fuel Stations
There are no fuel stations at Dinner Plain or Mount Hotham. Please ensure you fill up in Bright or Omeo prior to your drive.
Emergency & Medical
Call 000 - In the event of an emergency, always call 000 for police, fire and ambulance. The Triple Zero service is the fastest way to dispatch the closest available emergency service to you.
Defibrillator - There are three defibrillators in Dinner Plain: at the DP Hut near the village entrance, at Scrubbers End Hut near the Ski Slope and at Club Wyndham.
A medical service and police service are available on the mountain during the ski season. At other times of the year, services are available in Omeo and Bright.
