Tips on getting to Dinner Plain

Getting to Dinner Plain is a scenic adventure worth taking. Along the expanse of the Great Alpine Road you will experience the delights of the Alpine Valley towns—Myrtleford, Porepunkah, Bright and Harrietville—then soar to the heights of Victoria's dramatic mountain ranges along Australia's highest sealed through-road. Picture yourself driving through rolling river valleys and pristine bush to stunning viewpoints alongside Mount Feathertop—Victoria's second highest peak.

Dinner Plain, situated just 10 minutes from Mount Hotham, is accessed from either Bright or Omeo, offering dual approaches just a couple hours drive from North East Victoria's regional centres.

There is no resort entry fee to visit or stay in Dinner Plain. To avoid the Mount Hotham Ski Resort entry fee (snow season only) when driving to Dinner Plain via Bright, make sure to drive along the Great Alpine Road without stopping within the Mount Hotham Resort area.

When driving during the snow season, you must carry snow chains with you and fit them when required. You can hire snow chains from the ski rental stores in Ovens, Myrtleford, Bright, Harrietville, Mount Beauty and Omeo.

You can also get to Dinner Plain by public transport. During the snow season, coach services run daily and you can even fly direct, landing just minutes away at Hotham Airport. In summer, a public bus from Wangaratta to Omeo passes Dinner Plain three times a week.
